Feeding the Soul

YOU, ME, THE WORLD AND THE MORINGA TREE

Plants, Stones & Metals are considered to be related and living.

They are “different moments of a same cosmic process”

As we move on our cosmic journey we are constantly under the influence of various forces; the spirit that moves us, if you will. So in a way we are always heading into a future that has already been. We breathe the same air that has been recycled by our Mother, that all before us has breathed. Looking at a photo of all the satellites surrounding our planet I realize how we are challenged daily by the technology hum that constantly pervades our senses. This unnatural hum has to become natural, and this takes time. For us to advance we need to experiment, but we do need to learn to differentiate between what is good for us entirely and what is destructive to us and that keeps us apart. So when you stand in a place and project strongly, there is usually someone who receives. However, this might be many years from now. Ultimately it is how we use the information our personal antennae have picked up that will decide for us who we are and what we do with this information.

We hit an obstacle and dissolve. We reform and query; who are we, who am I?

So the inner bombardment continues. As we grow we sometimes experience intense emotional upheaval before the immensity of the release. You may go quietly or you may be dragged along the path, leaving your marks on the road of your resistance. The calling is strong, heed the message, listen to the earth and as you move through the fire, call on that fiery strength to sustain you as you start your walk through the ages of your formation.

Seek out the pharmacies of nature and see in which box she keeps them.

Nature has perfected the plant material and it is up to us to follow her example when we extract the curative properties from each particular plant. Remember that the experimenter has an effect upon the experiment. This is a magnetic and spiritual connection, which may be either on a conscious or subconscious level. When you harvest a plant, whether it be for food or medicinal purposes it is important to harvest at the correct time. This does not necessarily mean that you need to harvest Nettles in a fire period, rather it is your mood that is vital for the release of the energies within the plant. Learn to trust your intuition and focus on this trust process, it will aid you well on your journey.

We all have the potential to be healers. It is not only we humans that have a need to be healed; our entire living planet is needful of healing. Each one of us can take part in this healing process. Consider that the conscious mind is not and has never been the source of dis-ease, rather it is the subconscious patterns of feeling and belief that may be the contributing factor. This subconsciously maintaining of patterns is not easy to access because of our excellent abilities of hiding them away. Very often unexpressed pain and trauma of our past is stored in the muscular and connective tissue of our bodies, creating tension, blocks in circulation and then ultimately pain and dis-ease. These memories can also be stored in other organs of the body. So make your aim an emotional release and rescue your inner child so as to alter those memories you have stored away in your bodily system.

Our souls essence is captured in the essential oils of plants. Which are the plants that you resonate the most with? Meditate over your choice; is it the scent, the colour or is it the overall display of a mass of plants that stirs you. What day of the week do you find yourself needing Nature’s healing more than on others? We are experts at deceiving ourselves, and sometimes others. This makes us all natural actors, the stars of our own show! It may be also the time to hang up the broom and take out the spade!

As our planet moves through this part of the universe, we, living now, are experiencing thought patterns that were last felt by our ancestors who lived way back then, many, many thousands of years ago, as they too experienced. These whispered messages are being felt by many today, unsettling some, joyfully embracing others and jolting the rest of us into a new consciousness. We are affected by our climatic conditions and as our climate changes, so should we be embracing the changes in order to harmonize with the planet we call home. There is no doubt that our lifestyles are causing immense upheavals. There seem to be many answers, yet few are being put into practice. There are new technologies that may be less damaging to our environment although they may not appear so now. Yet the one fact remains that we ignore at our peril. We need our forests, our fields of trees and our various plant and animal life, to survive into the future. Otherwise where does the carbon go! We do not want this inside us, yet we seem reluctant to take a stand against this occurring. This is where the individual comes together. Where you can, plant as much as you can. Bombard your local councils for more trees, make arrangements for residents to water the growing trees; each family could take turns so as to share in the rebuilding of our future. Note that many of our indigenous Rhus species require no watering after the first 2 years or so and then in the beginning just a little in order to establish a strong root system.  This is the difference between being apart from or a part of!

There isn’t much that Nature requires of us, other than we take care of the home that is provided for us during our physical lifetime. If each one of us makes a conscious effort to contribute towards the continued greening of our surroundings, we will be ensuring the survival of much for the many to follow.  The stress of life can be eased almost totally by directing energies in the right direction and interaction with nature is a most fulfilling and rewarding experience.  By observing climate change and making notes each year about your little ecosystem and how it is being affected will do much to increase universal knowledge as we start sharing this information with each other.

A tree that is gaining popularity is the Moringa. Moringa leaves could practically wipe out malnutrition on our planet. Experts agree that the long-term solution to malnutrition is the use of foods rich in the essential nutrients often lacking in people's diets. Modern scientific research is proving that Moringa leaves are one of the richest sources of such nutrients. Even small amounts of the leaves could protect thousands of people from suffering and death. The leaves of Moringa oleifera, commonly known as the Moringa tree, are a very rich source of beta-carotene.

“The Moringa oleifera tree truly delivers wonders. The leaves of this tree are worthy of special attention. Traditional medicine in several countries has used these leaves to cure a host of diseases. Clinical studies are suggesting that traditional medicine has been on the right track. Nutritional analyses show that the leaves are very high in protein and contain all of the essential amino acids, including two amino acids that are especially important for children’s diets. This is most uncommon in a plant food. Moringa leaves are also packed with essential vitamins and minerals—especially vitamins A and C. Delivering such powerful nutrition, these leaves could prevent the scourge of malnutrition and related diseases. To top it off, Moringa is a fast-growing, drought-resistant tree that grows even in marginal soils and with very little care. Some call it a miracle. Could it also be good science? These humble leaves have the potential to deliver the nutrition needed to prevent and cure diseases and save populations.”

Moringa was highly valued in the ancient world. The Romans, Greeks and Egyptians extracted edible oil from the seeds and used it for perfume and skin lotion. In the 19th century, plantations of Moringa in the West Indies exported the oil to Europe for perfumes and lubricants for machinery. People in the Indian sub-continent have long used Moringa pods for food. The edible leaves are eaten throughout West Africa and in parts of Asia. Every part of the Moringa tree is said to have beneficial properties that can serve humanity. People in societies around the world have made use of these properties. The leaves and pods are used for Nutrition and medicine; the Flowers for Medicine; the Seeds for Water Purification and Medicine; Cooking oil is used for cosmetics & lubricants; the Bark, Roots and Gum are used for Medicine.

Moringa Leaves are full of essential disease-preventing nutrients: Vitamin A, which acts as a shield against eye disease, skin disease, heart ailments, diarrhea, and many other diseases. Vitamin C, fighting a host of illnesses including colds and flu. Calcium, which builds strong bones and teeth, and helps prevent osteoporosis. Potassium, essential for the functioning of the brain and nerves. Proteins, the basic building blocks of all our body cells. Some of the common ailments Moringa is used for skin infections, anemia, respiratory ailments, headaches, blood impurities, arthritis and rheumatism. Studies are being conducted over claims of possible cures for TB, Malaria, Urinary infections and Jaundice, amongst many others. Even more exciting is the experimentation from the oil for alternative fuel sources.

Gram for gram, dried leaves contain 10 times the Vitamin A of Carrots, 1/2 the Vitamin C of Oranges, 17 times the Calcium of Milk, 15 times the Potassium of Bananas, 25 times the Iron of Spinach and 9 times the Protein of Yoghurt. Gram for gram, fresh leaves contain 4 times the Vitamin A of Carrots, 7 times the Vitamin C of Oranges, 4 times the Calcium of Milk, 3 times the Potassium of Bananas, ¾ the Iron of Spinach and twice the amount of Protein of Yoghurt.

The powder made from leaves seems to provide an energy boost when included in the diet. It works like an overall tune up for the body. On a regular basis one, two or three spoonfuls can be added to sauces, rice and soups just before serving to provide a greater level of energy for the whole family. This is a way to detoxify, strengthen your immune system, control blood pressure, heal ulcers and manage blood sugar.

Moringa leaves are excellent in salads. They can be used as the sole source of “green” or as a flavour - enhancer and nutrition booster when added to lettuce. Place Moringa leaves in your bowl, add sliced cucumbers, tomatoes, and top with your favourite salad dressing and you’re ready to eat. When still young and tender the green pod can be prepared and eaten in same manner as green beans. Older pods develop a tough exterior, but their pulp and immature seeds are still edible till just before the ripening process begins. The taste of young pods is often compared to asparagus.

Flowers need to be cooked before being eaten. When fried either alone or in batter, they have a taste similar to mushrooms. For tea, boil water, pour it in a cup. Add Moringa flowers and allow to steep 5 minutes. Add sugar or honey to taste. Also can be used as a cold remedy, but you can use it anytime as a soothing drink“
